Transformator

Transformator can be used for automating simple text editing tasks by creating automatic replace rules. These rules can be either normal string replace rules or regular expressions.

Paste in text and copy the results out instantly!

I need to move Transformator to a different machine than the one I originally installed it on in order to more efficiently handle a huge batch of files that I need to process.

However, I have built an exhaustive set of substitution lists and I can’t find where they are stored.

Is it possible to create NEW custom substitution lists, or export/copy the existing ones from one machine to another.

The sandbox for Transformator contains all you need – so I guess if you want identical setups, you could just copy the folder Library/Containers/com.ihihi.Transformator over to the other machine(s).

You can get to the location on both machines by opening Finder, going to your user folder (cmd-shift-H), go to the hidden Library folder (cmd-shift-G, enter “Library/Containers”). There you should find a folder named com.ihihi.Transformator, which you can copy over.

I want to convert “space” to “new line”.

I can put space character in from text box but how to put new line character in the “to” field?

    • simo says:

Converting a space to newline can be done with the following substitution:
      From: enter a space
      To: hit option+enter

In a mac text field you can (almost) always enter a newline character by hitting option+enter.

Sorry for the late reply, just happened to look at the comments list, as I hadn’t noticed the notification email.

If you’re moving lists from one Mac to another, then the earlier response on copying the library should apply.
If you want an identical setup, you can copy the folder Library/Containers/com.ihihi.Transformator over to the other machine(s).

You can get to the location on both machines by opening Finder, going to your user folder (cmd-shift-H), go to the hidden Library folder (cmd-shift-G, enter “Library/Containers”). There you should find a folder named com.ihihi.Transformator, which you can copy over.

Please let me know if this was what you meant.
